SEIU Florida Public Services Union has an opening for a full time Organizer in our St. Petersburg, FL office to carry out member organizing and representation goals.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit and develop leaders to adopt and move the programs of the union among the membership.
Design, manage, organize and implement membership campaigns.
Represent the union in community and labor coalition activities.
Assist in contract negotiations.
Work with other staff and the Executive Board to carry out the Union’s organizing program.
Requirements:
High-school graduate or equivalent and 4yrs of background in internal organizing
Background in a right to work state very desirable.
Excellent communication expertise, both verbal and written
Expertise to work unaided
Computer literacy
Expertise to exercise high-level of judgment
Dynamic personality preferred
Hours and Work Schedule: A 50+ hour workweek is the norm with weeknights and weekends. Must be able to travel.

The coordinator position would require that you work out of our office in the fort Lauderdale area. While the hours of the day you come in and how long you stay can fluctuate, the position necessitates you to be in the office 5 days a week to become familiar with our program, and the general functioning of the database behind it. We greatly prefer to recruit someone to fill this position on a longterm basis, since the training involved can be extensive and it may take a while to become familiar with how everything operates.
Experience & Education (None of these are specifically required, but they are preferred)
Degree or experience in technology or computers
Administrative work history
Fundraising/ Sponsorship experience
Social Media, and marketing experience
Basic Tasks include:
Data entry
Registering schools in our program
Email and phone correspondence with schools, media, and others
Research and organize for our attendance at specific conventions and conferences
